Professional Performance & Coverage

Each 4-gallon (15.1 L) pail provides 740–980 sq. ft. of coverage when applied with the recommended 1/16" x 1/32" x 1/32" U-notch trowel. Its smooth-paste acrylic latex consistency ensures easy application while delivering optimal adhesive transfer and bond strength.

Substrate Requirements for Best Results

To guarantee maximum adhesion, all substrates must be:

• Structurally sound, dry, stable, and solid

• Clean and free of dust, dirt, oil, grease, paint, sealers, curing agents, or old adhesive

• Smooth, level, and flat within 1/8" across a 10-foot span

• Free of loose particles, toppings, or contaminants that could reduce adhesion

A properly prepared substrate ensures a flawless, long-lasting installation.

Installation Directions

Follow these steps for optimal performance:

1. Review instructions thoroughly before starting.

2. Apply adhesive with the recommended notched trowel, held at a 45° angle for even coverage.

3. For porous substrates:

   • Install flooring into semi-wet adhesive, or

   • Allow 30–60 minutes until adhesive dries to a “finger-dry” tack.

4. Only apply what can be installed within 12 hours and keep exposed adhesive protected from dust and debris.

5. Roll flooring according to type:

   • Timestep: Install and roll during semi-wet phase.

   • Foam-backed flooring: Install during dry phase (30–60 minutes).

6. Clean fresh adhesive immediately using water.

7. Protect the installation from light traffic for 24 hours.

Protection & Storage Guidelines

• Keep the finished installation protected from light traffic for at least 12 hours, and heavy traffic for 24 hours.

• Do not allow the product to freeze. If it becomes frozen, allow it to thaw completely before use.

• Store between 50°F–90°F (10°C–32°C).

• For best results, deliver all adhesive to the jobsite at least 24 hours before installation for temperature acclimation.

Limitations

For safety and performance, do not use Stagestep® Adhesive in the following conditions:

• Over substrates containing asbestos

• Over old or cutback adhesive residues

• On concrete with moisture levels above:

  • 8 lbs MVER (ASTM F1869)

  • 90% RH (ASTM F2170)

• On slabs with known hydrostatic pressure issues

• When the substrate or room temperature is below 50°F or above 90°F

• When substrate temperature is not at least 5°F above the dew point

• When substrate pH is 12 or higher

• For exterior installations — indoor use only
